Fluorescence Imaging Microscope

Fluorescence Imaging Microscope Fluorescence imaging microscopes are microscopes that use fluorescence and phosphorescence instead of, or in addition to, reflection and absorption to study organic or inorganic substances.

What is fluorescence imaging used for?

These systems can be used in many industries such as the medical sciences, environmental, and industrial industry.
  • A medical science laboratory can use this type of imaging system to identify viruses and bacteria and to diagnose diseases.
  • An environmental laboratory uses fluorescent microscopes mainly for environmental monitoring of air and water samples for bacterial contamination.
  • Industrial laboratories (food industry) can use fluorescent imaging systems to count the number of microbes in many food products and determine the contamination of the food in question.

What kinds of instruments produce fluorescence imaging?

There are different types of fluorescence imaging systems, such as confocal microscopes that use an optical imaging technique to increase optical resolution and contrast of a micrograph by using point illumination. Another type is the X-ray fluorescent microscope, which emits fluorescent X-rays from a material that has been excited by bombarding with high-energy X-rays or gamma rays.
