Manufacturer and supplier of high-performance chemistries taps two industry veterans with more than 45 years of combined experience to expand lab operations
Center Valley, PA (USA) – July 24, 2013 – Avantor™ Performance Materials, a global manufacturer and supplier of high-performance chemistries and materials, has appointed two new sales executives to expand the sales team for its growing laboratory products business unit.
Steven DaleySteven Daley was named vice president of sales for laboratory products in the Americas region, while Eric Blomgren was named director of sales for laboratory products covering Avantor’s eastern Americas territory.
As vice president of sales, Daley is responsible for developing and implementing the overall sales strategy for Avantor’s laboratory products unit in North and South America.
He brings more than 25 years of experience in chemistry, biochemistry and life sciences to his new role at Avantor. Since 1989, he has held numerous sales leadership positions with EMD Millipore, including key account manager; head of sales for Western Europe; director of global strategic accounts and custom sales; and regional sales manager.
Daley’s career at EMD involved several markets including the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, environmental, academic, bioscience, microbiology and analytic segments. During his tenure there, Daley handled a portfolio of products that ranged from chemicals and consumables to instrumentation.
Eric BlomgrenA graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Chemistry, Daley also earned a Six Sigma Green Belt certificate from Villanova University in 2009 and a Marketing Strategy for Business Leaders certificate from Cornell University in 2012. He is a member of the Strategic Account Management Association and the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers.
Overseeing Avantor’s laboratory product sales in the eastern Americas region, Eric Blomgren brings 20 years of sales, management, laboratory and technical experience to his new role at Avantor.
Before Avantor, Blomgren was a business development specialist with Metrics, Inc., where he was responsible for a portfolio of services including formulation development, clinical trial and commercial manufacturing, and analytical services. Prior to that, he worked at EMD Chemicals, Inc., where he served in various sales management roles.
His previous experience also includes sales for molecular biology products used in biotech, biopharmaceutical and university settings. In addition, he has worked in a variety of lab settings as a supervisor, quality control analyst, and laboratory technician.
Blomgren earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science with a focus on chemistry from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
