CENTER VALLEY, Pa., May 16, 2011 – Olympus, a precision technology leader designing and delivering innovative solutions in Life Science Imaging Systems and Industrial Measuring instruments, has named Mr. Hidenao Tsuchiya as Vice President and General Manager of the Scientific Equipment Group in theAmericas, effective April 25. Mr. Tsuchiya reports directly to Mr. Shin Nishigaki, President of the Life Science and Industrial Systems Group for Olympus Corporation in Japan. In this position, Mr. Tsuchiya replaces Mr. Osamu Joji, who has served as the GroupVice President and General Manager for the last five years and will return to Japan to assume another position with Olympus Corporation.
Mr. Tsuchiya was most recently the Division Manager for the Life Science Business Division of the Life Science and Industrial Systems Group of Olympus Corporation. A 28-year veteran of Olympus, Mr. Tsuchiya worked on a previous assignment in the U.S. with the Scientific Equipment Group from 1986 to 1991. He began his career as a Precision Mechanical Engineer in 1983, and has since held several positions within Olympus, including Division Manager of the Life Science Business.
