Goettingen, June 1, 2011 - Dr. Oscar-Werner Reif, Executive Vice President of Research and Development of the Sartorius Group and member of the Group Executive Committee, has been appointed honorary professor at the Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH). On May 20, LUH president Prof. Erich Barke presented Dr. Reif with a Letter of Appointment. Oscar-Werner Reif has been affiliated with the university in Hanover, Germany, for many years. He has served as an associate lecturer since 2003, regularly holding lectures and seminars in biotechnology, as well as advising and mentoring students and doctoral candidates.
Oscar-Werner Reif, age 46, studied chemistry and molecular biology at the University of Hannover, Germany, and at Vanderbilt University in the USA. He earned his doctorate degree in chemical engineering. Dr. Reif has been with Sartorius since 1995, initially working in vari-ous managerial R&D positions, then since 2005 as head of R&D of the Biotechnology Divi-sion. In 2009, Dr. Reif was appointed to the Executive Committee of the French subgroup of Sartorius, Sartorius Stedim Biotech S.A. Since 2011, he has been the Executive Vice President of R&D for the entire Sartorius Group and a member of the Group Executive Committee, the company’s top management board. In addition to his active commitments in several indus-try-related professional associations, Dr. Reif is also a member of the board of the DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.
