Award-Winning Catskill Reginal Medical Center Laboratory Uses Sunquest Information Technology Solutions

Sunquest Information Systems®, a leading provider of healthcare information technology, announced that Sunquest client Catskill Regional Medical Center was named Medical Laboratory Observer’s 2011 Lab of the Year. A panel of judges from MLO selected CRMC based on its excellence in customer service, contributions to patient care, teamwork, productivity, efficiency, quality control, innovation, and creativity.

The CRMC laboratory, which performs more than 1 million tests yearly, uses Sunquest Laboratory, Sunquest CoPathPlus, and Sunquest Blood Bank, components of a state-of-the-art, comprehensive laboratory information system (LIS) that facilitate sharing clinical and financial information across CRMC. The technology includes automated faxing of reports and a comprehensive patient resulting format that has been very well received by patients and care givers alike.

“Sunquest offers an excellent family of products and support staff that enables us to run our day-to-day operations efficiently and effectively,” said Dr. Joseph Napolitano, Medical Director of CRMC’s laboratory.

“Adoption and effective use of an LIS system can provide measurable positive outcomes on the delivery of care,” said Richard Atkin, Sunquest President and CEO. “Sunquest is proud to be part of CRMC’s initiatives to improve quality of care, reduce medical errors, lower costs, and improve the satisfaction of patients and care providers.”
