Laboratories now have access to BNP and NT-proBNP assays through one integrated analyzer
Tarrytown, NY, July 6, 2011 – Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has expanded its natriuretic peptide offerings by adding a B-type Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) assay to its Dimension Vista® Intelligent Lab Systems. Siemens was the first clinical laboratory diagnostics company to offer customers the choice of BNP or NT-proBNP testing on separate analyzers. Now, with its new Dimension Vista® LOCI BNP assay1, Siemens becomes the only company offering both BNP and NT- proBNP assays on one integrated system, promoting greater flexibility and more options for cardiac care testing.
Studies show that having rapid BNP test results can lead to a quick and accurate diagnosis of congestive heart failure. With the combination of precision and quick turnaround time, the Dimension Vista LOCI® BNP assay allows the laboratory to deliver high quality test results to clinicians quickly, so they can start treating their patients immediately.
“By offering both BNP and NT-proBNP assays on one system, customers can further integrate testing needs and possibly eliminate purchasing additional analyzers,” said Dave Hickey, CEO, Chemistry, Immunoassay, Automation, and Diagnostics IT Business Unit at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. “These types of additions to our product portfolio allow customers to further improve efficiencies and reduce costs in the laboratory.”
The Dimension Vista laboratory systems use advanced immunoassay technology that allows for results to be reported in as little as 12 minutes for a broad menu of tests, including the new LOCI BNP assay. There are more than 120 assays available on the Dimension Vista systems that make up test panels for reproductive health, cancer, anemia, cardiac disease, thyroid disorders, therapeutic drug monitoring, protein, drugs-of-abuse, in addition to routine and specialty chemistry testing.
