Researchers at the IUPUI and Erasmus MC University Medical Center have developed the HIrisPlex-S DNA test system to accurately predict eye, hair, and skin color from human bio-material. This innovative technology will allow investigators to use small samples of DNA left at crime scenes and develop robust physical descriptions on the persons of interest in an unprecedented way.
The HIrisPlex-S DNA test system is able to predict eye, hair, and skin color phenotypes from DNA, never before have all 3 been predicted simultaneously from the same technology. Their study is published in the peer-reviewed journal Forensic Science International: Genetics.
