Analytik has issued an informative white paper that introduces particle size characterization using the Differential Centrifugal Sedimentation (DCS) technique. DCS is an important tool for high-resolution particle characterization, especially in sizes ranging from .002 to 10 microns. Allowing very narrow distributions of particles, differing in size by less than 2% to be resolved.
The accuracy and reliability of DCS data makes the technique ideal to quantitatively derive weight and number distributions. DCS data is also comparable to data obtained through optical and scanning electron microscopic analyses. In addition to its introduction to the theory of DCS, the white paper covers different instrument designs, operational considerations, data from application results that can benefit from the technique, and discusses a new DCS method for measurement of low density, neutral buoyancy particles.
