ROTI SampleLyse tubes are 2 mL screw-cap vessels that can be used to grind a variety of biological samples. The sample can be simply transferred to the corresponding ROTI SampleLyse tube, mixed with lysis buffer and then inserted into a conventional homogenizer for cell disruption. Nucleic acids or proteins can then be isolated from the homogenized sample.
The tubes are filled with beads made from glass, ceramic or steel in different sizes. While the somewhat softer ceramic beads are particularly suitable for homogenizing elastic and delicate animal and plant tissues, the hard steel beads are mainly used for grinding hard materials like seeds, grains, bones, nails or hair. For more complex samples, such as soil samples or microorganisms, ROTI SampleLyse tubes filled with a mixture of bead types can be used.
ROTI SampleLyse tubes are available in packages of 10 units each for testing the homogenization of your samples.
