Fluorometer

A fluorescence spectrophotometer (also referred to as a fluorometer, fluorospectrometer, or fluorescence spectrometer) is an instrument that measures the amount of fluorescent light that is emanated from a sample at different wavelengths post illumination by a xenon lamp. Fluorometers can have different settings for recording fluorescent signals which vary in their wavelengths. Some can also read fluorescent signals for fast, complex experiments, such as time-resolved fluorescent resonance energy transfer (FRET). Fluorometers can utilize cuvettes, capillaries, Petri dishes, or microplates to read samples. Fluorometers can also differ in the size of samples they process with some using only a very small amount of sample (down to 0.3 µl).
