Electron Spin Resonance Spectrometer

Electron spin resonance spectrometers (ESR), or also known as electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), are instruments used to rapidly identify substances or to test the purity of products without physically destroying or altering samples. ESR is especially suited for chemicals containing unpaired electrons, such as organic or inorganic free-radicals, or compounds with transition metal ions. Instead of affecting fluorescence or vibration, ESR spectrometers use photons to excite the spin of electrons. ESR can be used across various markets, including chemistry, petrochemical, food testing, biochemical and pharmaceutical, and industrial laboratories.

What are considerations when choosing an Electron Spin Resonance Spectrometer?

Aside from price point and applications (for example: academic vs industrial), other key considerations when choosing your ESR spectrometer includes the size of the system (as benchtop versions are available compared to their larger counterparts), the level of sensitivity the system can achieve, size of sample volume and analysis time.
