Whole Brain Imaging

We as a research institute trying to understand the underlying structure and processes of brains did choose the Ultramicroscope II because it was the only suitable light-sheet microscope that was suitable for whole-brain imaging of mice, rats, and brain with similar size, and still retaining a resolution that enables us to see processes. Even spines are visible sometimes. We achieved the best results by limiting the horizontal FOV to the width of approx. two Raleigh lengths. This way we profit the most from the ~4µm thick light sheet. After we optimized and tested different clearing protocols we are now very happy with the device!
