July 12, 2012: Thermo Fisher Scientific is pleased to announce the release of a new collection of Application Notes on accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) of foods and foodstuffs. The Thermo Scientific Dionex ASE Application Summary Notebook provides 19 methods that focus on ASE methods for extraction of fats and environmental contaminants from a variety of prepared foods and raw materials.
Accelerated solvent extraction is a sample preparation method for extracting organic compounds from solid or semisolid samples. The Dionex ASE™ system uses organic solvents at elevated temperature and pressure to perform extractions using a fraction of the time and solvent required when using traditional extraction methods.
The need for fast, accurate analysis and food safety testing continues to increase as the world’s demand for food continues to grow, and the sources that supply it have become more varied. Examples of food adulteration and accidental contamination are more common now than ever before, which has increased the requirement for more stringent testing. Dionex ASE systems can perform exhaustive organic extractions on a wide variety of raw and processed food samples in a very short time, expediting batch processing of materials in preparation for laboratory analysis.
