Thermo Fisher Scientific Introduces More Precise, Accurate Carbon Monoxide Analyzer

Thermo Scientific IRIS 4800 Mid-IR Laser-Based Analyzer uses difference frequency generation (DFG) technology to measure CO at levels below parts per billion

FRANKLIN, Mass. – (Dec. 3, 2012) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the release of the Thermo Scientific IRIS 4800 mid-IR laser-based carbon monoxide (CO) analyzer. Designed for improved accuracy and greater precision, the Unique Difference Frequency Generation (DFG) laser technology, used across the IRIS series platform, enables measurement in the mid-infrared region, where line strengths are orders of magnitude stronger. The IRIS series of analyzers is on display within Thermo Scientific booth #407 at the AGU Fall Meeting, Dec. 4-7, in San Francisco.

Because the IRIS 4800 analyzer offers real-time ppb-level detection of CO, a criteria pollutant and tracer for manmade emissions of carbon dioxide, ambient researchers and analysts in industrial plants and power generation stations can obtain immediate feedback aiding emissions reduction and ambient and source gas monitoring programs. Housed in a single-box solution, the IRIS 4800 analyzer features an integrated manifold and pump designed to enable continuous operation with minimal maintenance. All IRIS analyzers are equipped with web-based remote access to enable continuous monitoring in the field.

“We designed the IRIS series of mid-IR laser-based analyzers with a view to improving trace species monitoring through greater precision and accuracy, another crucial step in finding solutions to reduce key greenhouse gases and other pollutants,” said Christopher Elicone, product manager, Thermo Scientific Environmental and Process Monitoring business. “Our latest IRIS analyzer is another example of our commitment to delivering effective, innovative technology and monitoring solutions designed to enable everyone can enjoy cleaner air.”

The IRIS series platform of mid-IR laser-based analyzers is available immediately to customers. For more information or to speak with a Thermo Fisher Scientific Sales Representative please call 866-282-0430 or visit www.thermoscientific.com/aqi.
