Agilent Technologies to Host Online Science and Technology Symposium for Life Science and Chemical Analysis Customers

Follow-On Mobile Trade Show to Hit Three U.S. Cities in March

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 26, 2013 – Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced that it will host the Agilent Science and Technology Symposium 2013, March 5 and 6. The online symposium will feature more than 20 live e-seminars focused on the life sciences and chemical analysis industries.

A mobile trade show will follow with stops in Indianapolis, Ind.; Raleigh, N.C.; and Richmond, Va., on March 12, 14, and 15, respectively. Additional cities will be added throughout the year.

Presentations and demonstrations will be made available on-demand following the live online events.

“Whether sitting alone at a computer, or attending a face-to-face road show, customers can use ASTS 2013 to network with colleagues and industry experts, and learn about the latest life sciences and chemical analysis technology from Agilent,” said Chris Viola, Agilent’s gas-phase program manager for the Americas. “This year we’ve invited a large group of highly esteemed scientists and collaborators to present important data, and join us in an exciting lineup of events, including educational sessions, live demonstrations and exhibits.”

Online Event

Live online seminars will begin March 5, with three concurrent morning sessions, followed by three simultaneous afternoon sessions, each focusing on a specific application area. This lineup will open with Dow Chemical Company Fellow Bill Winniford, who will share practical observations on flow modulation for GC x GC, and Douglas Juers from Whitman College, who will discuss multidisciplinary uses of an Xcalibur Nova.

Additional guest speakers include: Dr. Maxime Siegler of Johns Hopkins University, Steven Springer of DuPont Engineering, Rigoberto Advincula of Case Western School of Engineering, Luis Rodriguez-Saona from Ohio State University, Ashli Brown from Mississippi State University, and Dr. Shayne Snyder from the University of Arizona.

Participants who attend the online symposiums can also select from a variety of additional seminars presented by Agilent and industry experts covering energy/chemical, forensic/toxicology/clinical, material science, food safety/environmental, materials science/testing, bio/pharmaceutical, and research innovations.

On March 6, Agilent applications chemists will host live online demonstrations of several atomic and molecular spectroscopy products, including lab and portable FTIR, MP-AES, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS/QQQ. These seminars will highlight novel features of the instruments, as well as standard hardware and software operations. Samples will be analyzed with results streamed directly to viewers. Interactive online features will also enable attendees to ask questions and comment throughout the demonstrations, or schedule one-on-one demonstrations to run their own samples.

Virtual Product Exhibition

More than 60 Agilent life sciences and chemical analysis products will be on display in the virtual exhibit hall, where visitors can watch video demonstrations highlighting the unique features and benefits of each product. Visitors can also submit requests quotes and additional information. Twelve new products will be featured this year, including the Agilent 7890B GC and the Agilent 5877A Series GC/MSD.

Mobile Trade Show

For technology users who prefer face-to-face interaction and direct access to new products, Agilent will take its mobile exhibition to three U.S. cities in March, with more to follow throughout the coming months. Each venue will feature morning presentations by Agilent experts, followed by lunch, product exhibitions and afternoon presentations.
