BioTek Demonstrates Latest Microplate Instrumentation Innovations at BIOTECHNICA 2011

October 3, 2011, WINOOSKI VT, USA — BioTek Instruments, Inc., will highlight their newest microplate instrumentation technologies at BIOTECHNICA 2011, Hall 9, Stand D69 from October 11-13, 2011 at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds, Hannover, Germany.

The exhibition marks the European debut of BioTek's high performance, high value Eon™ Microplate Spectrophotometer. This monochromator-based absorbance reader provides shaking, temperature control to 65°C, flexible, filter-free 200-999 nm wavelength selection in 1 nm increments, and spectral scanning in 6- to 384-well microplates. An optional cuvette port expands functionality and aids in assay miniaturization to microplates or the 2 µL volumes used with BioTek's Take3™ and new Take3 Trio Micro-Volume Plates.

Additionally, BioTek's Epoch™ Multi-Volume Spectrophotometer, Synergy™ H1 and Synergy™ H4 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Readers, will also be presented at the booth, and are compatible with the Take3 Micro-Volume Plates. The Epoch absorbance reader uses monochromator-based optics for absorbance measurements from 200-999 nm in 6- to 384-well microplates. Synergy H1 and Synergy H4 combine two detection technologies in one unit to create true hybrid systems. Both are integrated with flexible monochromator-based fluorescence optics, and Synergy H4 includes sensitive filter-based optics (option for Synergy H1 systems) for an endless array of current and future assay protocols.

BioTek's popular microplate washers will also be demonstrated at the booth. The new ELx405™ Select Deep Well Washer is the only microplate washer to automate aspirate/dispense steps in 96- and 384-well standard and deep well microplates up to 50 mm high. The EL406™ Combination Microplate Washer Dispenser combines fast, efficient microplate washing, and peristaltic pump and syringe drive dispensing technologies, for 96- to 1536-well microplates, and also works with magnetic bead-based applications. Both washers are compatible with BioTek's BioStack™ Microplate Stacker and third-party automation for unattended operation, and both are controlled via the keypad interface or LHC software with optional 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
