October 2011, American Fork, UT—Torion Technologies Inc. TRIDION™-9 GC-TMS was voted by exhibitors and attendees as the Best New Analytical Product in 2011 at the 107th Annual Gulf Coast Conference held on October 11 - 12, 2011 at Galveston, TX. The TRIDION-9 was one of fifteen new products recognized in the New Product Showcase. Receiving the award on behalf of Torion was Tiffany C. Wirth, Applied Technology Scientist, and Nathan L. Porter, Senior Research Scientist.
The new TRIDION™-9 is the world’s fastest and most portable GC-TMS. A high speed GC is combined with a miniaturized toroidal ion trap mass spectrometer (TMS) in a lightweight, field-portable instrument that is designed to rapidly detect hazardous chemical compounds in the field at their point of origin. The capillary GC provides rapid, high resolution separation of target analytes, while the TMS supports highly sensitive mass-based detection of a wide variety of compounds. The T-9 weighs ~30 lbs, is the size of a brief case, operates on (rechargeable) battery power, and has an on-board helium carrier gas cartridge. The GC-TMS is supported by Torion’s CUSTODION® SPME syringes for sample introduction and the new CHROMION™ operating and data processing software package.
The TRIDION-9 is not only portable, but also fast, reliable and easy to operate. The TRIDION-9 miniature GC-TMS system is ideally suited for rapid (less than 3 min), highly sensitive and selective detection of a wide variety of compounds including chemical warfare agents, explosives, environmental pollutants, hazardous substances, food contaminants, etc. The TRIDION-9 GC-TMS decreases sampling costs, increases sampling throughput, and provides time-effective data as compared to conventional sample testing in traditional laboratories.
