Crucible Furnace

A crucible furnace is used to melt metals in a refractory crucible. The crucible furnaces typically are fueled with oil, gas, electricity, etc. A crucible furnace consists essentially of a pot comprised of refractory material that can be sealed. Crucibles of high-grade fire clay or even graphite were formerly used in the steel industry. In addition to melting, applications include fusions, curing, drying, hardening, annealing, tempering, and sintering.
