IntegenX Unveils RapidHIT Human Identification System to U.K. Forensic Community First Rapid DNA Instruments Shipping this Summer

PLEASANTON, Calif. & WARRINGTON, England, Jun 27, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- IntegenX Inc., a privately held company and leading developer of rapid human DNA identification technology, DNA sequencing library preparation systems, and DNA/RNA room temperature stability and storage products, today announced the unveiling of its RapidHIT(TM) Human Identification System at the new Key Forensics Services Ltd (KFS) facility in Warrington, United Kingdom. KFS is one of the early access sites for the new system and will be the first to provide Rapid DNA identification capabilities to U.K. law enforcement organizations.

Rapid DNA analysis is a transformative technology that promises to fundamentally change the way investigations are conducted by enabling law enforcement personnel to quickly and definitively identify suspects while they are still in custody. Numerous international law enforcement and security agencies around the world use DNA-based human identification to make informed identification decisions regarding the arrest, detention, or release of suspects, as well as to analyze crime scene evidence. Rapid DNA technology has the potential to help create safer communities through its many applications from policing to homeland security and defense.

"The RapidHIT System will revolutionize the provision of DNA profiles, and we are honored to be one of the first forensic laboratories in the world to deploy it," said Paul Hackett, KFS Group Managing Director. "We look forward to delivering unprecedented improvements in turnaround times for our U.K. law enforcement customers with this system in our expanded state-of-the-art facility."

"The RapidHIT system will allow, for the first time, rapid DNA analysis at the point of collection, setting a new standard in the usage of DNA profiles as an actionable biometric similar to fingerprints," added Stevan Jovanovich, President and Chief Executive Officer of IntegenX. "KFS is among the world's leading forensic science providers and we are pleased to be working with them on the introduction of our Rapid DNA technology to the U.K. Their feedback will be invaluable as we prepare for the global commercial launch of the RapidHIT system later this summer."

The IntegenX RapidHIT 200 is a mobile, self-contained Human Identification (HID) system that automates and accelerates the process of producing standardized DNA profiles from buccal swabs and other human samples in less than 90 minutes. The RapidHIT system produces human DNA profiles compatible with the U.K. National DNA Database (NDNAD).

In celebration of this historic milestone in forensics, IntegenX has produced a short video that features leaders in law enforcement discussing the impact of rapid DNA in crime fighting.
