Antibodies to the Ro(SSA) antigen are one of the most frequent serological markers of autoimmunity in rheumatic diseases. These auto-antibodies are typically present in the serum of 50-80% of patients with Sjögren’s syndrome (SS), 30-40% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and 3-5% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Ro(SSA) autoantibodies have also been reported to be present in primary biliary cirrhosis, progressive systemic sclerosis, polymyositis, multiple myeloma, neonatal lupus syndrome and in other lupus associated disorders including subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, Sjögren’s syndrome-lupus overlap disease and lupus with complement component deficiencies.
As such, the availability of this product will serve to benefit the needs of clinical researchers, medical laboratory professionals and in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) manufacturers as it has been expressly designed for use as an integral component in solid phase ELISA-based immunoassay test procedures for the detection of anti-Ro(SSA) antibodies.
Extracted and purified from bovine thymus solely of New Zealand origin, this Ro(SSA) antigen exhibits the highest level of purity – greater than 90% as assessed by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis – while demonstrating exceptional degrees of activity and specificity. The product also features exceptional lot-to-lot consistency and shelf life stability. The antigen is available in three separate operator-oriented packaging fill formats of 1.0mg, 0.5mg and 0.2mg. Customer distinct and bulk packaging options are also available.
