The new Combics®SPC- Premium software for premium results

Intuitive system from Sartorius takes control of the checkweighing process of pre-packaged products from start to finish.

For the food and pharmaceutical industries, both regulations and customer expectations shape how processes are run. Stringent legislation demands that products conform as closely as possible to their advertised weight. On top of this, customers expect that the products they hand over their hard earned cash for will fulfill their expectations. Checkweighing is perhaps one of the most effective ways of accurately monitoring production lines for consistency. Alongside this, implementing Statistical Process Control (SPC) software allows manufacturers to monitor and analyze fluctuations in weight and product attributes. By observing these changes producers can take immediate positive steps to ensure the consistency of all their products. Although the benefits of these systems are well known, consumers will struggle to source a solution which fuses highly accurate checkweighing functionality together, SPC software and full modularity.

A new approach

With the scope of manufacturing processes as wide as it is, finding a solution which perfectly fits a unique process can often be hard. For this reason highly flexible, modular solutions are often the best answer for the checkweighing and statistical analysis of pre-packaged products. The Combics®SPC is a new and intuitive system from Sartorius that takes complete control of the checkweighing process from start to finish. To facilitate the extensive range of accessories which can be used to deliver goods for analysis the Combics®SPC can integrate with all laboratory balances, digital platforms, strain gauge platforms, printers and barcode readers.

For the last decade Sartorius’ earlier offering, the SartoPac system has dominated the field of net- content control, but now its successor has taken center stage. With the Combics®SPC users are provided with a unique system, one that perfectly complements an extensive range of industries. Combining accuracy, reliability and longevity to SPC software, the system can be relied upon to help maintain the reputations of suppliers from every industry.

As well as being a modular stand-alone system, Combics®SPC can become part of a “360° view on your packaging line”. New from Sartorius, this different approach to the monitoring of packaging lines allows manufacturers to analyze their entire process chain. The easy to integrate software “SPC@Enterprise” can be installed alongside your existing infrastructure, providing valuable information on bottle necks, overfill, product attributes critical process parameters and much more. The complete overview provided by SPC@Enterprise not only takes data from units such as the Combics®SPC but will work alongside all packaging machinery regardless of make, model or manufacturer. The information garnered from the system is then reported to users in a fully traceable manner in accordance with IFS, BRC and ISO 22000 helping you to react instantly to fluctuations in efficiency.

The Combics® series has already left its mark thanks to the controller’s ability to provide exceptional performance across numerous applications. 2013 sees the Combics®3 equipped with SPC software that will allow the unit to monitor a process statistically whilst providing full traceability through printouts and internal data storage. With profit margins increasingly being squeezed as manufacturers seek to compete with one another in these tough economic times, Combics®SPC could well be the extra help needed to get ahead. Production costs can be dramatically minimised thanks to the reduction of downtime, elimination of overfill and renowned lifespan of this innovative unit. With such uncertainty ahead, it makes sense now, more than ever, for producers to invest in their production facilities now and to guarantee that they’re achieving operational excellence.
