Harlan Laboratories Receives ISO 9001:2008 Certification for Teklad Animal Diets Business Unit

INDIANAPOLIS - August 1, 2013: Harlan Laboratories, a leading contract research organization and research models and services company, today announced that its Teklad laboratory animal diet business unit has received continuation status of their ISO 9001:2008 Certificate. The internationally recognized certification confirms that Teklad meets ISO standards for effective quality management systems across all areas of the business including facilities, people, training, services and equipment.

Teklad’s certification surveillance process was administered in partnership with SGS, a leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, and included a detailed assessment of the company’s facilities. Interviews were conducted with management and employees, and procedures were reviewed across all functional areas, including operations, training and development, customer service processes, complaint handling, technical services (diet design and development), and document and data control.

“Maintaining our ISO certification is made possible through the daily efforts and the customer-focused approach of all Teklad employees at every level of the organization,” said Jon Plummer, U.S. Operations Manager, Harlan Teklad. “It also reinforces our commitment to the continuous improvement process, and it ensures that no matter where our customers are located throughout the world, they will receive consistently high-quality products and services.”

Harlan Laboratories manufactures Teklad laboratory animal diets in Madison, Wis., and distributes diet and bedding products worldwide, thus enabling the global research community to do research better.
