St. Joseph, Mich.— LECO Corporation has introduced the Citius™ LC-HRT, a new high-resolution mass spectrometer for the LCMS market that utilizes the Omni Spray® DESI ion source from Prosolia, Inc.
The DESI technology (Desorption Electrospray Ionization) is a sensitive, gentle ionization method that allows for the direct sampling of surfaces without any sample preparation, and under ambient temperature and pressure conditions. This technique is effective for both organic and biological compounds and allows for in situ analysis of biological tissues and other surfaces.
“The combination of the Omni Spray 2-D DESI Source and the Citius LC-HRT offers high-throughput ambient surface analysis and MS imaging capabilities with unprecedented acquisition speed on the same versatile platform,” said Justin Wiseman, President and CEO of Prosolia, Inc.
In addition to DESI, the Citius LC-HRT incorporates other key innovations, including LECO’s Folded Flight Path™ (FFP™) technology, which provides full-range mass spectra at high resolution with high-performance mass accuracy, and LECO’s easy-to-use ChromaTOF®-HRT operating software.
