- Novel formulation specially optimized for transfection of widely used cell line
- Accelerates protein production by promoting maximum protein expression after only 24 hours
- Provides efficient DNA delivery with minimal cell death
April 20, 2011, Billerica, MA - EMD Millipore, the Life Science division of Merck KGaA of Germany, today launched its new NovaCHOice™ Transfection Kit that accelerates protein production from the suspension Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line. This new reagent is the first kit optimized specifically for this popular cell line, which produces active, soluble forms of recombinant proteins used in research, drug discovery, preclinical studies, or patients.
Suspension CHO cells are widely used for recombinant protein production because they are easy to scale-up for cell culture and protein purification. However, suspension CHO cell transfection has been challenging because few optimized transfection reagents were available. EMD Millipore's NovaCHOice transfection kit overcomes this challenge by enabling efficient delivery of DNA into the cells, resulting in high levels of gene expression and superior protein yields.
"CHO cells are the most widely used mammalian hosts for production of recombinant protein therapeutics," said Paulina Leung-Lee, Product Manager at EMD Millipore. "NovaCHOice kits provide an efficient scale-up path."
The NovaCHOice transfection kit can improve the large-scale production of therapeutic recombinant proteins, such as therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, of which kilogram-scale yields are required per batch.
