Hudson, NH – Teledyne Leeman Labs, a leading worldwide supplier of analytical instrumentation for elemental analysis, is pleased to announce the release of a new application note on the analysis of Trace Elements in Tungsten Carbide using the Prodigy DC Arc Spectrometer.
The analysis of trace elements in high purity tungsten carbide is challenging when using measurement techniques that require sample digestion prior to analysis. Digestion procedures are often complex, time-consuming and increase the risk of sample contamination. DC Arc allows tungsten carbide samples to be analyzed in their solid form, eliminating the need for sample dissolution and greatly increasing the speed with which samples can be analyzed. Direct analysis also eliminates sample dilution, resulting in much better detection limits than those obtained with other analytical techniques.
The application note provides data that demonstrates the ability of the Prodigy DC Arc to quantify trace elements in high purity tungsten carbide. The instrument provides both high sensitivity and wide dispersion. And when combined with appropriate wavelengths and background correction points, it is able to provide accurate and reliable results for a large suite of elements in tungsten carbide.
